We are redeveloping a garage site off Tawneys Road in order to build new affordable properties.
What is the work?
The £3.3 million project will create 16 new properties on land south of 43-56 Bushey Croft, Harlow. The 16 properties will consist of:
- 6 two bedroom houses
- 10 three bedroom houses
There will be two allocated parking spaces per house, plus general car parking for 41 vehicles.
The houses will be 100% affordable housing and 30% of properties will be at council rent level.
Why is the work needed?
The project will regenerate an underutilised garage area and build new, much-needed affordable homes for local residents.

Public consultation was held at St. Stephen's Church in Tawneys Road on 26 March 2018, where residents met Council representatives and the design team behind the plans.
Planning permission was granted on 31 August 2018 (HW/FUL/18/00189).
We have appointed Architecture & Design Services Ltd as the architect and Atkins Ltd (Faithful & Gould) as the consultant.
Work will start in September 2019.
Work is expected to be completed in February 2021.
Impact on residents
The work on site should not cause any issues to the surrounding residents and the neighbours will be updated regularly to make sure their issues or concerns are dealt with quickly.
We are aware of the impact on car parking in the area, as residents and visitors to the area use the site for car parking currently.
School drop off and pick up times may be affected, however we are working with William Martin school to look at alternative parking arrangements for the duration of the development.
